Behavioral Interview Overview
Testing how candidates react to specific situations is the basis and reasoning behind a behavioral interview questions. The interviewer assumes that you will behave in the future much like you behaved in the past. Give me an example of one you took the opportunity to show initiative even though you were not designated as the project leader. Tell me about a time where you had to lead a team and tell me about the trials and tribulations you experienced. When leading, how do you motivate others to take stake in the project? Give me an example. Describe to me a time where you set your sights too high and were not successful at achieving this goal. As a leader, tell me about a time when you had to make an unpopular decision and explained the outcome. Explain to me a time when you had to deal with a very upset customer. Describe a situation in detail and then tell me how you resolved it.

The key to answering these questions is sticking strictly to workplace related experiences and providing specific and detailed examples. Your interviewer is probing for specific instances you performed in regards to the questions being asked. Do not beat around the bush, simply answer the question and provide a concrete example.
