SAMPLE QUESTIONS

#1 - Why should we hire you?

A chance to blow your own trumpet? Not a good idea but do be confident about your abilities and experience without trying to sound too important.

#2 - Why do you want to leave your current job?

Don't ever answer this with criticism of you previous or current employer no matter how much you hate the job or your boss. You must be positive at all times and explain how you wish to broaden your experience or meet new challenges.

#3 - What are your strengths and weaknesses?

Make sure you have some positive strengths that will benefit the company. Your dedication to quality and willingness to help others.

For the weaknesses, don't pretend that you don't have any. Everyone does so turn chose a weakness that wont affect your work and try to show it as a misguided strength. Perhaps you sometimes work too many hours or are very ambitious.

#4 - How do you handle pressure and stress at work?

All jobs seem to be stressful at times so you really need to be able to cope. Of course getting the job done and finishing your tasks on time is a good way of reducing stress.

#5 - Can you work as part of a team?

Companies don't like loners so even if you want to sit by yourself you must give the impression that you are a great team player, willing to share and help others.

#6 - What do you know about this company?

This is one of the most important questions. If you haven't a clue about the company or what it does, find out. They wont be impressed if you don't seem sure what the business is so spend some time to discover what they do. What they sell and where they sell it.

#7 - What are your ambitions?

No, don't tell them you want to the company president but do give the impression you want to get ahead and are willing to work hard to get there.

Having some well prepared answers to these questions will make a good impression and put you ahead of others applying for the job. Times are hard now and there is a lot of competition for what jobs are going. Do a little homework and get ready for the interview.
